MAX BR2 Micro (CAT-7)

The Peplink MAX BR2 Micro (CAT-7) steps up from the standard CAT-4 model with two embedded LTE-Advanced CAT-7 modems — delivering faster peak cellular speeds in the same ultra-small, ruggedised chassis smaller than three decks of cards. SpeedFusion Hot Failover and Bandwidth Bonding across both modems keep connectivity running even if one carrier drops, with built-in eSIM enabling zero-touch provisioning.

Overview

Overview

The Peplink MAX BR2 Micro (CAT-7) packs two embedded LTE-Advanced CAT-7 modems into the same ruggedised metal enclosure as the standard CAT-4 model, smaller than three decks of cards. The dual-modem design enhances reliability and resilience with SpeedFusion Hot Failover, WAN Smoothing, and Bandwidth Bonding — so if one carrier or modem drops, the connection keeps running, now with higher peak cellular speeds than the CAT-4 variant.

A convertible Ethernet LAN/WAN port and a USB-C port (with an integrated Ethernet-to-USB adapter based on the AX88179 chipset) provide virtual Ethernet connectivity for any device, even without a native Ethernet port. Built-in eSIM alongside physical Nano-SIM support enables zero-touch provisioning, configuration, and remote management via InControl 2 and InTouch.

Key highlights

  • 2x embedded CAT-7 LTE-Advanced modems (APAC/EMEA bands)
  • 1x Gigabit Ethernet port (convertible LAN/WAN) + 1x USB-C (virtual Ethernet via AX88179 adapter)
  • SpeedFusion Hot Failover, WAN Smoothing, and Bandwidth Bonding
  • 300 Mbps router throughput
  • Nano-SIM (4FF), Peplink eSIM, and BYO eSIM (2 profiles per modem) support
  • Fanless design, operates from -40° to 65°C
  • Ultra-compact ruggedised metal enclosure (76 × 83 × 43 mm)
  • Flexible power: AC adapter, 10–30V DC terminal block, or USB-C (9V)

Recommended for

  • Bandwidth-sensitive mass deployments — CAT-7 gives more headroom than CAT-4 for video, telemetry, or multiple users per site
  • Sites needing maximum reliability in minimum space — ultra-small footprint with full dual-cellular resilience
  • Zero-touch provisioning scenarios — built-in eSIM lets devices be shipped and activated without pre-configuration
  • Devices without native Ethernet — USB-C virtual Ethernet adapter connects any compatible device

Performance

Throughput

The MAX BR2 Micro (CAT-7) delivers 300 Mbps router throughput, with SpeedFusion throughput of 80 Mbps unencrypted or 60 Mbps over 256-bit AES encryption — router-level figures match the CAT-4 model, since the uplift here is in cellular modem speed, not routing capacity.
